Stephen Spender nació en 1909 en Londres (R. U.), donde murió en 1995. LA HABITACIÓN SOBRE LA PLAZA La luz en la ventana parecía perpetua cuando te quedabas en la habitación conmigo; brillaba en los árboles a través de las hojas igual que mi certeza. Ha descendido la luz y tú estás escondido en las soleadas penínsulas de la espada: rota como una hoja en Europa esta la paz que fluyó entre nosotros. Subo ahora en soledad a nuestra habitación  sobre la oscura plaza donde entre piedras y raíces, asoman otros amantes sin heridas.
