OLGA OROZCO

I, Olga Orozco, tell from your heart to everyone that I am dying.
I loved solitude, the heroic endurance of all creed,
leisure during which strange animals and fabulous plants grow,
the shadow of a great time elapsed between mysteries and hallucinations,
also the light trembling of spark plugs at nightfall.
My story is in my hands and in the hands with which
others left their marks on them.
Only magic and rituals will remain from my stay,
A few dates worn out by the sigh of a cold-blooded love,
The distant smoke of the house in which we never dwelled,
And a few gestures scattered among the gestures of others who  new me not.
The rest is yet to be fulfilled in oblivion,
The misfortune still carving that one’ s face who
in me was searching herself like in a mirror of delighted meadows,
and whom you will perceive as a strange alien:
my own phantom doomed to my own construct of this world.
She would have loved to keep me in disdain or in  pride,
until the last moment like lightning striking,
not in a commotion unknown where I still raise my hoarse and weeping voice
amongst your stormy heart.
No. This death will not find peace nor greatness.
I cannot be looking at it for the first time for so long.
But I must keep dying until your death I reach
since I am your witness before a law too deep and too opaque
for ever changing dreams,
there, where we scripted the sentence:
“They have already died.
They had been chosen for punishment and forgiveness, for heaven and for hell.
They are now a stain locked in the smothered walls of the first dwelling”.

A THOUGHT   To return to infancy: to be without speech. The threshold between Eden and Heaven. Ground and cloud. Hollowed out, each image will lose its definition bit by bit. An infant in Purgatory still covers her head with swaddling Or is it the sunlight lying on the floor? We try to domesticate our spirits like children. We chase and chastise them until they change. We spend our lives trying to release them again .
