REFLEJOS

Sobre el llano fulgura

el falso hielo

de la más clara niebla,

ya sólo vamos

por un camino de lentos bosques

hacia esferas de niebla

que se detienen

en la sustancia lúcida.

Giramos horas y horas

con una lámpara

y en el largo reflejo

otra luz otra lámpara

sin tregua miro,

de vidrio y opalina

corona y límite

de la no vista llama.

Lo que alumbra yo ignoro

y nadie sabe,

del brillo que trasluce

y no se muestra

encandilado el corazón,

por un instante

devorador el tiempo

juega despacio

juega a ser devorado.

Hinca sus dientes

la inútil agudeza

y se detiene

en la carne de vidrio.

El aire espeso

ríos de transparencias

deja entrever

con ellas comunica

la ausente luz

hasta que algún aliento

los vuelve ciegos

mientras el día

en la noche se funde

y un solo día

como el otoño pesa.

Con todo lo que ignoro

haré una esfera

de opalina, una esfera

que ha de rasgar

la lluvia como

si fuera alguna mano...

Y no se quiebra, se esconde.

Con el fulgor perdemos

al mismo tiempo

colores sucesivos

retoños últimos

del bosque ya talado.

REFLECTIONS

On the plain the false ice

of the clearest mist

is shining,

now were are only going

by a path of slow thickets

toward spheres of mist

that stand still

in the lucid substance.

We go round for hours and hours

with a lamp

and in the long reflection

I watch without cease

another light another lamp

of glass and opaline

crown and limit

of the unseen flame.

What it illuminates I don’t know

and no one knows,

of the gleam that shines through

and the heart doesn’t appear

dazzled,

for an instant

devourer of time

it plays slowly

plays at being devoured.

The futile sharpness

sinks its teeth

and stops

in the glassy flesh.

The dense air

allows a glimpse

of rivers of transparencies,

the absent light

communicates with them

until some breath

blinds them

while the day

merges with the night

and one sole day

weighs like the autumn.

With all I don’t know

I will make a sphere

of opaline, a sphere

that the rain

will tear as if

it was some hand…

And it doesn’t break, it hides.

With the shining we lose

at the same time

successive colors

last shoots

of the already felled wood.

A THOUGHT   To return to infancy: to be without speech. The threshold between Eden and Heaven. Ground and cloud. Hollowed out, each image will lose its definition bit by bit. An infant in Purgatory still covers her head with swaddling Or is it the sunlight lying on the floor? We try to domesticate our spirits like children. We chase and chastise them until they change. We spend our lives trying to release them again .
