comeremos

un pedazo de manzana en automóvil

y cuando regresemos

de una higuera recogeremos higos

y alimentaremos a gorriones vagabundos

qué agitaremos en el espacio para que formen sobre nuestros cuerpos techas;

siempre

claro está

cuando tú estés dispuesta.

WHEN YOU ARE WILLING

When you are willing

we will eat

a piece of apple in a car

and when we get back

we’ll eat figs from a fig tree

and we’ll feed vagrant sparrows

when you are willing

it’s understood

we’ll amuse ourselves learning worms’ language

drawing with charcoal caravans of ants

and then we’ll climb as if up a trunk toward the mountain

and we’ll plant the first flower to make aviators smile.

When you are willing we’ll do so many things

we’ll go and rest under the palm trees

and discover how crickets make love

then we’ll run with our knapsacks to the sea

and we’ll fill them with foam

which we’ll shake in space so it forms roofs over our bodies;

it will shelter the secret of our night’s performances

always

of course

when you are willing.

SPRING ON THE AVENUE Again a sudden rumor comes along the avenue; the merry sparrows hear it there and twitter it is a true. The twitter all the secret out to every lad and lass- to all the people swarming by, that spring has come to pass. And yet, of all the teeming crowds, has anybody spied romance is tripping down the street with april at its side?

A THOUGHT   To return to infancy: to be without speech. The threshold between Eden and Heaven. Ground and cloud. Hollowed out, each image will lose its definition bit by bit. An infant in Purgatory still covers her head with swaddling Or is it the sunlight lying on the floor? We try to domesticate our spirits like children. We chase and chastise them until they change. We spend our lives trying to release them again .
