OSOS O BANDIDOS, NO SABÉS

quién te asaltará     desde lo oscuro

en esta carretera hacia el más puro

                           olvido

iluminar

y transpirás como un condenado

a mil grados

bajo cero.

Bultos blancos invaden tus pupilas,

(Sólo lográs herir a tus seres queridos.

La carretera renace de sí misma.

Los bandidos reparten tus pedazos).

BEARS OR BANDITS, YOU NEVER KNOW

who will jump you     in the dark

on this road towards deepest

                           oblivion

the worst in the world, populated

             by your loved ones,

populated by phantom limbs and frozen horses

screaming to high heaven under the endless snow, this

road stretching toward  the impossible

verse you long for.

And its limestone turned quagmire.

And the storm

making it impossible to see

            therefore

the gun you pull

the cartridges you pull from the gelignite of your soul

and the bandits, their thick arctic furs:

you watch them crossing the road, the worst one

any moon could

illuminate

and you sweat like the damned

at a thousand degrees

below zero.

White bumps invade your pupils,

you shoot without looking ahead, at the past,

with desire with sea salts with mad fury

with both arms you shoot.

(You only succeed in wounding your loved ones.

The road rises from its own ashes.

The bandits divvy up pieces of you).

SPRING ON THE AVENUE Again a sudden rumor comes along the avenue; the merry sparrows hear it there and twitter it is a true. The twitter all the secret out to every lad and lass- to all the people swarming by, that spring has come to pass. And yet, of all the teeming crowds, has anybody spied romance is tripping down the street with april at its side?

A THOUGHT   To return to infancy: to be without speech. The threshold between Eden and Heaven. Ground and cloud. Hollowed out, each image will lose its definition bit by bit. An infant in Purgatory still covers her head with swaddling Or is it the sunlight lying on the floor? We try to domesticate our spirits like children. We chase and chastise them until they change. We spend our lives trying to release them again .
